  • If commuting from south of Minami-Sendai Station: Minami-Sendai Station only.

School Bus (RAPI-BUS)

School bus that does a circuit of the designated student dormitories. Students not living in a dormitory may also use the bus if there are vacant seats available. A boarding ticket (1,000 yen for 10 rides, available at Administration Office) is required to board the bus.

Car or Motorcycle

Students who wish to commute to university by car or motorcycle must obtain a Permit to Commute by Vehicle.

Application for this permit is conditional on the applicant not having received administrative punishment such as suspension or cancellation of driver’s license within the past twelve months and, if they have received such administrative punishment in the past, they must not have had any vehicle accidents or traffic infringements for at least 12 months after the expiry of the punishment period.

Permit to Commute by Vehicle and Term of Validity

Students who have agreed to the Rules for Commuting by Vehicle and lodged an application will be granted a Permit to Commute by Vehicle after examination of the application. The permit is valid from the date of grant until March 31 of the shortest year of expected graduation. However, the permit will only be granted to applicants who attend a traffic safety workshop and obtain a confirmation stamp to that effect.

Overview of Rules for Commuting by Vehicle

  • For cars, the permit must be displayed where it can be easily seen from the entrance gatehouse when the car enters and parks in the parking lot and so that the vehicle number is visible. For motorcycles, the permit must be suspended from the handlebars.
  • Vehicles must be parked in the student parking lots.
  • The University shall bear no liability for any accidents, damage, theft, etc. that occurs in the parking lots.
  • Students with permits must attend the annual Traffic Safety Workshop.
  • If the permitted vehicle is involved in an accident either on or off campus or is subject to administrative punishment, the University is to be notified immediately.
  • Permit holders who do not comply with the Rules will be subject to the Student Discipline Rules.

Important Note for Commuting by Vehicle

  • No other vehicles other than permitted vehicles (including motorcycles) will be allowed.
  • Complaints have been received about nuisance parking by students on the streets inside the Yurigaoka Residential Area, in the parking lots of public parks, and in shop parking lots. Such nuisance parking and unauthorized parking is in violation of social manners and is against the rules.
  • Traffic accidents on the way to and from campus are on the rise. A moment’s negligence, lapse of attention, or poor judgment can lead to a major accident. Prevent accidents by always obeying the road rules and manners.

Commuting by Bicycle

  • If commuting to campus by bicycle, take responsibility for the prevention of theft by using the student bicycle parking lot and locking your bicycle.
  • Do not leave your bicycle in the bicycle parking lot for extended periods of time. If you need to do so, obtain permission.
  • Illegal acts involving bicycles can be subject to legal penalties, such as imprisonment of up to three months or a fine of up to ¥50,000. Please exercise caution.

Car drop-off/pick-up points

  • Stopping the car and boarding/alighting in the area near the main gate will impede other traffic and is dangerous. Use the student parking lot instead.
