Diverse Courses to Support Job-Search Activities

SHOKEI GAKUIN UNIVERSITY offers diverse courses to help students realize their career paths, including qualifications that are useful in the real world, prep courses for employment examinations at private-sector companies, and prep courses for examinations for civil servants and teachers. It is recommended that students take these courses multiple times from the lower year levels to improve their academic abilities in preparation for sitting such examinations.

Excel® Spreadsheet Processing Skills Qualification Test 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Grade Prep Course
Acquire Excel® spreadsheet processing skills, which are an essential skill in companies. This is a skill and qualification that will be immediately useful in the real world.
Prep Course for SPI Test and Basics of Civil Service examination
This course prepares students to sit the written examination that is most used by private companies in their recruitment testing. Many private companies conduct a written examination to narrow down the candidates they will go on to interview. Students need to improve their general knowledge, language and non-language skills to improve their chances in these tests.
Prep Course for Civil Service Examinations
Civil service examinations (national and regional) start in around June every year. Prep courses (Basic I and II) are held on campus to help students prepare for these examinations. It is important to start preparing from the lower year levels to pass the civil service examinations.
Prep Course for Secretarial Skills Proficiency Test
This test measures proficiency in the kind of secretarial skills needed for clerical positions. It is a qualification sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Students can learn basic skills for working people, such as general knowledge, manners, etiquette, speech, and interpersonal skills.
Prep Course for Information Technology Passport Examination
This is a national qualification, which all working people and students who use IT should obtain, to prove that they are equipped with basic IT knowledge. It is used by many companies in their recruitment activities and employee education.
Prep Course for Registered Dietitian Examination (for 3rd and 4th Year students)
This course prepares students to sit the National Examination for Registered Dietitians. Through continuous learning from 3rd Year to just before they sit the exam in 4th Year, students will acquire practical skills for the exam.

Qualification Examination Fee Subsidies Supporting Ambitious Students

The aim of this subsidy scheme is to provide financial aid to students who have a strong will to improve themselves, who learn independently, and who strive to enhance their own potential. Students who sit qualification examinations targeted by the scheme can obtain a subsidy to help cover a part of the Examination fees.

Transport Cost Subsidy to Support Job Search Activities

With its Transport Cost Subsidy Scheme, SGU provides financial aid to students who wish to find a job in regions that are a long way from Miyagi Prefecture, such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. SGU helps students to realize their dreams by reducing the financial burden on students who wish to participate in company information sessions and recruitment examinations.

Job-Search Support System

SGU Student Portal system allows students to view various job information, such as job postings from companies and information on company information sessions, both on campus and from their home computer or smartphone. Notices from the Careers Department can also be obtained immediately with this system.
